Nancy Gordy has done research on these Starkey's.In the information she sent me from the reference:1891 Biographical Records of Harrison and Carroll Counties; " Joseph had four sons Joseph Jr., Issac, Thomas and Gabriel but according to the census Joseph had a least another son. Other information on Joseph, from "Family Research in Monroe Co. Ohio, March 30,1972 Spirit of Democracy" states "Joseph Starkey was the Revolutionary Ancestor of most of the Starkeys living in Monroe Co. Ohio. Joseph was born around 1764 probably in Virginia, and his pension claim was made on the 12th day of November,1822 in Shenandoah Co. when he gave his age as 58.He stated he was hired as a substitute for the term of 18 months in the Regiment of Col.Campbell in the Virginia State Line. He continued to serve until sometime in January 1782 when he was discharged in Salisbury North Carolina. According to his pension file he appeared in 1825 at Winchester(Frederick Co. VA)stating that his name was placed on the Pension Roll for the State of Virginia from whence he had lately removed, and he resided in Ohio and intended to remain there in the future, and wanted his pension paid there.I hope this may help you. I descend through a Joseph Starkey b 1813 b.Ohio(married Anna Carpenter) through his daughter Margaret b. 1837 Ohio. She is my 2G Grandmother. You may want to contact Nancy Gordy through the forum, she knows much more she has been researching a long time. Deborah Wegge Notify Administrator about this message?
