Wm. STARK, Cedar Springs, dealer in general merchandise, established his business at Lebeck in Oct. 1878. In 1884, he cut away the brush from where his present store stands. He is also proprietor of Springs Hotel. He was b. 1839, Lincoln Co., MO, s/o Matilda [HOPKINS] & James STARK, natives of South Carolina {?} and Kentucky. They lived in Lincoln Co. until 1868, when they moved to Cedar Co., where the father d. 1873, & the mother in 1879 {1873?). She was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church. William was ninth of four sons and eleven daughters. At age 17, Wm. and an elder brother joined an elder sister in Camden County. Wm. m. Lorinda FISHER, b. Franklin Co., MO, dau/o Nancy & Wm. FISHER, natives of Kentucky. William & Lorinda had three sons and eight daughters, nine children living (1889). He served from 1864 to July 1865 in Co. M, Fifteenth MO Vol. Cavalry...

James STARK (15 Mar. 1804 - 6 Je. 1873) is buried at Herriman Chapel, off Highway 39, a mile and a half southeast of Cedar Springs.
