I suggest you check the death information for your John Stark so that you have a lead back into Scotland as the Stark family tree can spread considerably. His birth information, marriage information or death information will be useful in your search if you obtain actual documents. I have a Stark family tree with lots of Johns but no further details so you need a connection of sorts back into Scotland for it to be of use.
