I am a Starbuck descendant, so this name caught my eye. He is not on my line, but I thought I would enter the information in case someone is looking in that area. I have a booklet "Crossroads and Corners" about Prince William Co., by Eugene Scheel.
Page 87 - Stone House this house dates from 1828 when it was built for Thomas Otway Carter of nearby 'Pittsylvania.' It was later the site of a Post Office. "The house and surrounds immediately capitalized on its pre-eminence during the Manassas Battles, and became a combined hotel, store, and post officee, 1865-1871, under Gideon M. Starbuck. Postmaster Starbuck called his enterprise Stone House Hotel. His kit, George E. and Meribah Starbuck, assisted in his ventures which may have lasted until they sold the property in 1881."
There is nothing further on these people in this booklet.
