The brother of my Gt Gt Gt Grandfather (Charles Stanyon) was called William Stanyon. He was baptised in Sawtry, Huntingdonshire in 1811. This is a little early for your date of about 1820 for your William Stanion.
William and Charles were 2 of 9 children of Robert and Mary Stanyon who were married at Sawtry in 1806. Robert was a cordwainer, and at least 4 of his sons, and several grandsons carried on the business.

I was fascinated that you mention the village of Stanion - after all my years of researching my family of Stanyons, I never knew that this village existed before I read your message!
