my mothers maiden name was HAZEL GILLIAN STANILAND (born 1940 in Surrey). She was the only child of HOWARD WILLIAM HARE STANILAND and CONSTANCE KATHLEEN STANILAND (nee Head).
My grandfather's father was W H STANILAND and was a poet. Tennyson wrote the foreward for one of his books but I cannot remember the title.
Please post any further information you may have. I understand that there is a Staniland in Canada, but have no other info.
