Dear Norman: Thank you for trying to help me in my search for my great-grandfather Charles Bascom Standley. As far as the censuses, they are what made my contact you to begin with. I have been searching for years under the spelling STANLEY. After looking at a family Bible, some of the names had a D included, so I expanded the search to ANY variations. Charles B. was born in AR between 1853(according to his tombstone) and 1856(according to 1900 and 1910 census). I have been unable to locate him on the 1870 one. Do you have the 1870 listing for Elizabeth? Maybe some of the children of William and Candace were still with her?? I did find a Bascum Stanle on the 1880 Franklin Co, TX. census, age 24, b. AR, with both parents b. TN. There were several Parchman families in Titus Co., TX in 1870 and 1880 Franklin Co(created from part of Titus in 1878)so I thought there might be a connection there. The first real documented proof of him is a marriage in Shelby Co., TX, in 1896 to Martha Jane Permenter. He was across the river in Sabine Parish in 1900, back to Newton Co., TX in 1910&1920. Note on 1920: The census taker listed him as JW Stanley, which is wrong, because the children listed are all my grandmother's brothers and sisters! Once he moved to Newton,Newton Co, TX, he never left. He died in 1926 and is buried there. I have come across a family of one William Bramwell Standlee. The submitter of this data states that William Bramwell was the son of William and Candace Unknown, and was born about 1850. There is enough time between Frances b.1849 and M. A. b. 1853 for another child to be a possiblity. Also, one of your sources for C.B. is a Mrs. A.G. Standlee. She was the wife of Alonzo Standlee, a son of William Bramwell. That leads me to believe there is a definite connection here. As far as the other names in your notes: Mrs. Ruby Mize was the great-grandaughter of John Parchman. Mr. Tom Holmes,Sr. of Jasper,TX., was the son of Carrie P. Standlee and Walter "Tom" Holmes. Carrie P. was the daughter of Abraham Standlee Jr., the physician, and son of Abraham SR. and Elizabeth(Parchman). By the way, Jasper Co. is next door to Newton Co, TX., and some of the Holmes were in Newton! Estelle Bryson(formerly Estelle ASHER) was married to Bill Bryson. There may be a family connection there to John Parchman Standlee's bunch. The name Bryson in the Burnet Co/Williamson Co. area has been found. Anyway, she was either very knowledgible about families in the area or she was actually connected by marriage somehow. She passed away in 2001. Please check your notes for any other clues to ANY of William and Candace UNKNOWN's children and maybe I can help piece this puzzle together. The Newton Co.,Tx. Standley's are planning a reunion in April, and I would love to have some new information to offer to the group. One more thing, were there any documents upon the death of Abraham SR. or wife Elizabeth that might offer any clues? He and sons purchased land in several counties in SW Arkansas, so this disposal of this property might give further information. Again, thank you for answering my posting. I will be glad to share any info I have, and would love to have a copy of your line or ANYTHING pertinent to the Abraham-Elizabeth tree. Anxiously awaiting word back from you......Lee Notify Administrator about this message?
