I descend from another daughter of Luke and Mary, Elizabeth Standefer. Elizabeth married her first cousin, Isaac Standefer. His parents were William Standefer and Jemima Jones. William was a brother to Luke. Elizabeth and Isaac were married in Monroe Co, MS, but I think they moved onto AR where their daughter Elizabeth supposedly was born. I wish they'd stayed in Monroe Co, MS as Elizabeth (Sr.) died sometime after the birth of her daughter and no one knows exactly when or where. If they'd stayed in MS maybe she would have been buried there, where Charity is buried. You certainly have done some great research on Charity. Too bad she didn't have descendants to really appreciate your work, but I do. I find the statement "Obtained the blessing of sanctification Sep. 10, 1826," very interesting. I tell people they need to know the history of the area where their ancestors lived, not only the laws but customs, too. Now I will add customs of the churches to that list, also. I just learned about Lease and Release in Colonial VA land records. You might call it a "custom" rather then a law. It was a way early settlers got around paying a British fee for buying and selling land. Human nature was the same then as now. LOL It's nice to know the cemetery where Luke and Mary are buried is being cared for. I've never had the chance to visit MS. Notify Administrator about this message?
