David, these may have been some of the family of Henry Stamps who came to Texas, but I don't know what year. Henry was son of my William Stamps and wife Frankey (Frances) of Georgia and Mississippi. My ancestress was Deborah Martha (Patsy) Stamps who married Richard Cole and they came to Caldwell/Winn Parish Louisiana hich is just on the other side of Natchitoches, La. Perhaps Henry came with them and went on into Texas. I don't have much on Henry's family except that his second wife was probably Martha Williams and they lived in Smith County Texas around the Tyler area. I don't have proof of this tho. Timpson and Teneha are not that far from Tyler.
Children of Henry were: Mattie Stamps- born in Mississippi in 1853?- probably by his first wife, whoever she was. Riley Stamps was born 1854,so Henry probably came about or before that time. Thomas Stamps and Bertie Stamps are both said to have been born around 1857 in Texas, maybe they were twins? Jefferson Stamps was born 1861 in Texas.
These dates need to be rechecked in the 1880 Texas Census Records and if I were you, I would check the courthhouse records of Smith County Texas for succession of Stamps families if you have access to them. If you do find them related to each other, keep me informed so I can add to what I have on the Stamps family. Thanks, Lucy Vickers Grisham, Lewisville, Texas.
