I'm trying to identify and seeking information about the William M. Stamper who married Nancy Pelfrey (born about 1847), probably in Carter or Rowan County, KY, in about 1870-73. They are enumerated in the 1880 census of Rowan County, where William is identified as a blacksmith, born about 1819, in KY. The children with them are Milla (born abt 1849), Isaac (born abt 1861), Hiram (born abt 1862), John (born abt 1864), Miles (born abt 1864, and is probably Miles Terry, Nancy's son from a previous relationship), Susan (born abt 1867), Linzie (born abt 1873), and William (born in 1877, and, according to his death certificate, was William and Nancy's son). I believe that this is the same William Stamper enumerated in the 1870 census of Carter County with a wife named Rebecca, because of the similarities in his age, birth date and place, and the names and ages of some of his children, particularly Isaac, Hiram, John, and Susan.
Does any of this sound familiar to anyone?
