Thank you for your posting, Vicky. You list the surname "Branson" as one that married into the Stamper family. My great grandfather was Wilkerson "Wix" Branson b. 12/2/1850 in Letcher County, KY., d. 12/06/1942 in Perry County, KY. My best knowledge is that he married one Elizabeth (or Jane or Betty Jane?) Stamper approx. 1873 and they had 13 children, my grandfather Green Letcher Branson among them. I've been unable to locate any other information about Elizabeth/Betty Jane other than she died within a few months of the birth of her last child, Hezekiah (later known as "H.C./Hizzie" or "Jack") Branson in 1901. I also believe that Elizabeth/Jane may have had a brother or cousin, William R. "Toad" Stamper, who married, circa late 1860's to early 1870's, my great grand aunt Loisa Branson, b. 1848.
Letcher & Perry Counties are in the Appalachian Mts. of eastern KY and were thick with Bransons, Coudills, Combs with some Stampers that I believe migrated in from NC and/or VA.
I hope this may be helpful to you. And any info you may have regarding Elizabeth/Jane would be much appreciated.
