My great grandfather John Lawrence Stamm was the son of David K Stamm and Susan Lawrence of Lancaster County, Pa. According to his pension records he was born on Feb. 16, 1842 in Lancaster Co Pa. He was mustered in on Aug. 25. 1862 at Wheeling W.Va. He was mustered out on June 16, 1865 at Richmnod, VA.
He married Catherine Watson McKean on Feb. 14, 1867 in Wheeling, W.Va. by Rev Mofat; recorded in County Court & 2nd Presbyterian Church Register. They had eight children:
John Stamm - Oct 14 1867 (twin)
Tom Stamm- Oct.14,1867 (twin)Dead
Geroge Stamm - Feb. 24, 1867 Dead
Clark Stamm - May 22, 1972
Isabell Seachrist - Mar. 2, 1869
Clara Dobbins - Mar. 21, 1882
Catherine Torbet/Joyce - Apr, 20, 1887 (My grandmother)

According to my grandmother he was a devoted Presbyeterian his entire life. He was a bank messenger for 50 years. I have the decendents of Catherine Torbet Joyce; all are now deceased. Clara Dobbins my great aunt never had children.I am interested in finding out any links to the original Pa. Stamms who imigrated from Germany apx 1740. There is a definite link to the Berks Co Pa Stamms. My father was born in Berks Co, Pa. possibly during a visit from Wheeling, W.Va.
