Dear Betty,
Many thanks for the reply and for the knowledge that these Stalveys sprang from Horry County, SC........it rather begins to seem as if perhaps I was wrong in thinking they may have been William Wilder's mother's people. I know that his mother's name was Emily, and his father was John, and that he was born in Sumter County, SC, in 1854.........but that is neither here nor there concerning the Stalveys.
My grandmother always said her papa came from Georgetown before moving to GA, and that he was married (at the time) to a woman named Mary, who was from the Georgetown area. We know nothing of this lady beyond the fact that she died after coming to Wayne County, GA (and William Wilder then married my great-grandmother...in 1920, when he was 66 years old!!)
Now that I know these Stalveys were from Horry County (just above Georgetown), and not from Georgia, I begin to wonder if they are not the family of his first wife, Mary? The Mary Ann Murrow who appears in the list of births would have been older than William, but not by very much.........might she have been his first wife??....this is a whole new turn to the thing!!!
Any info on the Murrow connection with the Stalvey family.....or the Freemans? You have given me a whole new perspective of this old family mystery, and I most sincerely thank you for your help.
Randy Campbell
