Southern Stalnaker Reunion
February 23, 2008
Bridge Creek Club House
Prattville, Alabama
10:30 – 4:00

Beautiful venue. The weather was cold and overcast.
Descendants from three of Joseph W. Stalnaker’s children attended. The lines of William Stalnaker, Julia Ann Stalnaker and John Thomas Stalnaker were represented.

•       Welcome
•       Thanks for wonderful covered dish luncheon.
•       Thanks to Cindy and Mark McCallister for the use of the beautiful facility.
•       Remembrance of Jeroma “Roma” Mae Stalnaker Ross, who passed away February 12, 2008, in Prattville, AL.
•       Update on Ann Stalnaker’s condition after her fall.
•       Recognition of family members in active U.S. Military Service
o       Joel Stalnaker- U.S. Air Force stationed in Idaho.
o       Chase Stalnaker, son of John Stalnaker, grandson of Joe Ivy Stalnaker, returning from 15 month tour in Iraq.
•       Discussion of date for annual Southern Stalnaker reunion.
o       To be held annually on the last Saturday of February. Venue for 2009 is Bridge Creek Club House.
•       Preparations are being made for Southern Stalnaker web site.
•       James “Red” Engle had Family Group sheets for anyone to complete.
•       Clara Wright handed out copies of pictures of John Thomas Stalnaker’s children and their spouses.
•       Barry Stalnaker reported on his trip to Chilhowee and the Cumberland Gap. He will keep us updated on a possible commemorative walk later this year.
•       Fifty-six people attended the reunion. Each person had a chance to introduce himself and tell any personal anecdote. Carey Stalnaker filmed the introductions.
•       Prizes were awarded for:
o       Oldest attendee - Mary Salyer
o       Youngest attendee - “M. T.”
o       Attendee who traveled the furthest- Buddy and Marian Engle, Long Beach, MS
o       Attendees with the most children
