My G-G-Grandfarther was
John L. Stallions/Stallings/Stillings.
He was born in Edgefield Co., NC 1805.
Moved to Claiborne Co., TN then to
London, Laurel Co., KY.
He is listed in the 1840 Census as Stallions, John.
In the 1843 Laurel Co., KY tax list as John Stillings.
Acording to family lore he got mad at his family or didn't
like the jokes about his last name so he changed it to Stillings.
I have plenty of infomation about the Stillings clan from John L. down, but am having a fit backtracking.
If this any halp to you let me know.
Gene Stillings
Manchester, TN
