I'm needing any information someone may have on Nola Brown. She was my grandmother and passed away when I was just two or three. I'm told that she was 1/2 Cherokee Indian. I'm looking for any information on her family. Supposedly, Gr-Grandpa Brown was an escort during the Trail of Tears. They fell in love and when they weren't given her father's blessings, he stole her away during the night and they returned to Missouri. Nola is the only child that I know of, though there are probably more.
If any of the family has been traced through marriage or death certificates or Indian roll numbers, please contact me.
