The Rev Robert Stainton was my Great Grandfather, my Grandfather James Hayton Stainton was his son by his second wife Eliza Hayton Davis, they had three children, two sons Frank Robert Stainton ( he was sports editor for the Yorkshire Post and wrote a book on cricket "Travelling with Yorkshire" my father Kenneth Ellis Stainton and there sister Margery, all born in Sheffield where The Rev Robert Stainton was a very well known preacher both politically and religiously and was featured in the "Journal of Literature,Science and Art" (The Sheffield Portrait Gallery) in May 1875 I have a copy of this. My Grandfather James Hayton Stainton wrote a book in 1924 entitled " The Making of Sheffield 1865-1914" I also have a copy of this together with another book " Past Chapters in Sheffield History" which includes many pen and ink sketches by him (I have most of the originals) this book was by subscriptions and produced 100 for the prisoner of war fund in the great war. I also have in my possession a beautiful gold leaf engraved christening mug for Robert Kirk Stainton born December 2nd 1860. if I can be of any further help please contact me.
