On looking at the original post again, I notice that one of the children in this family was Albert Bromby . This is a sure sign that the family WAS in fact, descendants of the Henry Bromby(b 1780 in Kent), who moved to Glasgow and changed his name to Staines
Two of his sons emigrated, one. Henry Bevan Bromby Staines to the US and HIS son (Henry Bromby Staines, (1829) ended up on the West Coast of New Zealand with many descendants there.
The other son John Bromby/Staines (b 1815 in Glasgow, went to Jamaica. Isabel Jane Staines was probably John;s son,
