According to my GGrandfather's personal memoirs: John Bromby Staines from Glasgow, Scotland, migrated to Jamaica, about 1840. He was a Captain in the English army and was awarded 600 acres of land in Jamaica. He married one Ana Elizabeth (no last name avail) and had the following children: 1)Anna Maria Staines, m. Edgar Graham Gould May 10, 1881; d.1911; they had 9 children (one of whom was my Grandmother) 2)Kenneth, married Sarah Walsh 3)Fred - no information John B. Staines willed 100 acres of his plantation to his daughter Anna Maria, which was gradually sold off during hard times. She died of "cancer of the womb" at Mt. Hermon, Jamaica. I was seeking additional information about the Staines family. Notify Administrator about this message?
