Bev, there are some Stainbacks in Cokesbury cemetary, just east of Henderson, NC. I was there a few weeks ago and the earliest stone I found was for Thomas Stainback born 6/21/1821, died 9/24/1901. I count at least 14 Stainback graves, not including people who have Stainback maiden names. It is located about 3-4 miles east of Henderson, not far off of Warrenton Rd (which you can get to from US-1 Bypass). Warrenton Rd will fork to the right about 1 mile from US-1, so watch out!! Make another right at a sign pointing to Cokesbury (should be first road to the right I believe). Church is about a mile ahead on left.
Charlie told me he wasn't exactly sure about where this Stainback line fits in. My great grandmother, Claudia Stainback Harris is there, but not directly related. I have information on the 14 headstones, if anyone's interested.
