I have the will of a Dorcas Stagg Canfield (b.1803 d.1881) who mentioned the children of her brother Thomas Stagg and her sister Elizabeth (Betty) Stagg Jacobus. Thomas lived in Wayne, Passaic County, NJ. Elizabeth and Dorcas both lived in Caldwell, Essex County, NJ.
Thomas Stagg b.1793 (in the 1850 census he was 57)
Elizabeth Stagg b.1803 (1850 Census she is 47)
Dorcas Stagg b. 1804 (died June 1881 at 77)
Does anyone have any more information about the parents and other siblings?
Also, I have an Abraham Stagg who married Sarah Crane in 1823 in Caldwell. I believe he is the Abraham who was born about 1786 and fought in the War of 1812. His record shows that he was born in Picquanic (Pequannock) and enlisted in 1812 at Orange, NJ (and was 26). Sarah Crane may be the daugher of John R. and Elizabeth (Crane) Crane.
Does anyone have a connection between Abraham Stagg of Pequannock and Thomas, Elizabeth, and Dorcas Stagg?
