I'm looking for infomation about my Great Grandfather William George Stagg.
He lived at 217 White Horse Road in Croydon in 1893 when my Grandfather was born (Alfred Leonard Stagg)and was a "gas stoker" at Croydon Gas works. He was married to Phedora Wood.
My Grandfather also worked at the Croydon gas company as a "pressure man". From 1926 up until 1979 he rented a house in Purley Way from the Gas Company (it's now the Whirlpool Centre)
His son (my Father) Leonard William Stagg worked for a while at the Gas Company.
Alfred was known to those who knew him as Len because he disliked the name Alfred. This led to my dad and he being known as big and little Len.
Croydon is full up with Staggs and I can't find anyone who knows the ones I'm looking for CAN YOU HELP???
