Steve,
Thank you for your informative reply. We did exchange data about five years ago, and I see you finally connected your James with his parents. Congrats!
It is possible that our Sarah J. "Sally" Stage was a daughter of the same parents as your James, but so far no proof has been uncovered. The fact, as you point out, of descendants of John Stagg ( Stage ) going to Michigan is the best connection I've found to our Sally, but close only counts in Horse Shoes.
Tenatively, we do have Lea Blameless parents as Rotcher ( Roger ) Blameless b. 23 Sep 1696, and Aaltje Clark b. 18 Jan 1702. They were married 16 Sep 1720, place unlisted, but probably somewhere in Europe, like Holland? Have thirteen Children of John & Lea but only two actual birth dates, and two abouts. Sally's Birth place of Orange County, NY and marriage place of Minisink, Orange County, NY does put her in the right neighborhood, and if the date and place of her birth are known, why then wouldn't her parents also be known? More questions than answers at this stage. My wife also has several distant lines of Clark in her Ancestry so that would be an avenue to explore.
Don't know if I mentioned in original post that Sally Stage did remarry after the death of her husband, James Brown Howell, who just happened to pass away in Newfane, Niagara County, NY, the same place as to where your ancestors went.
Sally's 2nd Husband was John Fitzgerald, b. 1794 in NH; they were married 6 Jun 1834, place unknown. If their marriage place was in NY and witnesses shown, we could connect to your Stage that way. All of James Brown and Sally Stage Howells children were born in NY, with the latest being Sep 1829...We have the Howells, assuming with Sally too, coming here to Michigan in 1837.
Well, again, Thanks, and keep in touch, either on of off this list
