Hi all Staddon's out there.
Just came across this website, very interesting ! My father, Ronald John Staddon, was born in Minehead, Somerset, 1914 (sadly he pegged it some 12 years ago. I'd always been told that Staddon was a W.country name but have never done any research. My Grandfather was Peter Staddon and also lived in the W.country. My old man always claimed that Peter was the first to drive up the notorious 'Porlock Hill' in a car - apparently it was a model T ford, and he had to reverse up the really steep bits! I guess it was just a dirt road back then.
We moved a few times when I was a kid in the 60's & 70's and I eventually ended up in Cape Town, where I still live.
I have a brother and 2 sisters still living in the UK and would be interested to hear from anyone who can shed some light on other branches of the family or tie theirs into mine !
A Happy 2008 to all Staddons out there !
