Coat of Arms

Does anyone know the meaning of the Stack Family coat of Arms?
An Ermine Lion Rampant on a red field. There is no motto but the crest is a Ducal coronet with an arm with a sword.
Is this an English coat of Arms since the Stacks originally came from England in the fourteenth century to Ireland or an Irish coat of arms?
Also, why did the Stacks become "more Irish than the Irish themselves?" and become enemies of England where they originally came from?
