I can't help you with your enquiries, but you may be able to to give me some tips. I am researching my grandfathers line, got to James Stable b about 1760. This is in Lancaster. Happy with that. However , the next link seems to be ( no matter how much I wriggle) James b 1740 in Barrow in Furness. My problem with this , is that there is a fair bit of water between the two places, not far as the crow flies, but if you had to go around, it would be a fair way. I Know that there used to be traffic across the bay, but I can't find any details about this. Was this a regular travel route? Used by how many, and how often? Do you know? I would appreciate any help. Thanks , Brian.
