Hi my name is Jim and live in NYC. I am half singhalese on my mothers side. She was born there and left in 1962.
Im looking to build on the ancestry of my Singhalese side.
My grandparents were Francis DeLivera and Mildred DeSoysa.
Francis' parents were Baron De Livera and Nancy De Abrew Rajapakse. I know Baron De Livera was a well known business man running the Cargo Dispatch Company in the early 1900's. He owned several estates in the Colombo area.
I know his father was a methodist minister named
Rev Andreas De Livera. My grandmothers parents were Frederic De Soysa and Engletina Gunasekera. Im not sure about Frederic De Soysa's side much both Frederic and Engletina died at an early age and a month a part. I know Frederic had a brother named Gaspard De Soysa.
From my knowledge the De Soysa and Gunasekera's were from or around Mutwal. If anyone can help me with information on any of these families i would be very grateful. Im very proud to be Singhalese and look forward to learning more of my heritage. thanks. I can be emailed at please put a subject title of Sri Lanka Genalogy --thanks again -- Jim
