Sri Lanka civil registration - 1867-1897

Hello everyone,

I am trying to find birth information for my great-grandfather, born in Ceylon in 1873. His father was a consulting civil engineer who was in Ceylon 1865-1885, working for the railway. We ordered the films 1037384/1037385 from the LDS library. However, it was little help, as it appears to be simply an inventory of other records. I have two questions:
1. Has anyone been able to track down films of the actual records through the LDS? How does this work?
2. Are there consular records available which might contain the same info? Any suggestions as to how to obtain this information?

Thank you in advance for any suggestions.

Best regards,
Paul Arnold, Toronto
