Hi Glennys, I've just become interested in Ceylon since I learned that my g.g.grandfather served for 11 years with the 97th Foot between 1824-1838 - not exactly the same period that interests you but a long shot is better than no shot! If you know your O'Deane's regt. as you do, you should be able to track down details of his court martial.
Could you tell me, please, where your relative was stationed in Ceylon? Doesn't the Australian Joint Copying Project give you the details (as per the PRO records?).
