I was told that Bernard Thornley died in Cyprus by a Burgher family who commute between Sri Lanka, Australia and England.
I would be very interested to correspond with anyone who knew him concerning his time in Sri Lanka as I am writing a book on Lionel Wendt and BJT will feature in it. Your aunt sounds just the person I would like to meet. I wish I had known of her when I was last in England.
Incidentally, a little book I did about another Sri Lankan (PRC Peterson, govt doctor 1918-48), based on interviews with him when he was 92 (in 1981), has just been published in Colombo. It is called GREAT DAYS.
