Dear Sam
I looked up Lewis' book and found no reference to either of the names. You may be interested to note that Peacock estate Pussellawa where George Wait worked as a coffee planter between 1856 and 1871 was owned by sir John Wilson who was Commander in Chief of Ceylon in 1830.An account of Wilson's involvement in Peacock Estate including a photograph of the estate taken in 1864 is in Daniel Green's book "A plantation family', Ipswich 1979 ISBN
0-85115-109-4.I have not been able to get any bio data on W.E. wait who was a member of
the Ceylon Civil service, other than his D.O.B. which was 14 April 1878.His book the
Birds of Ceylon was published in 1925.
Regards
Hugh
