Pardon me for butting in, but I have a question regarding these "De Neys" I looked at the family history of your namesake and I was disappointed I didn't find a connection to my family.
In my family I've hit a dead-end regarding my John Deney born in New York in 1815/1816. Finding his parents & heritage has been a challenge. Just when I think I've made a hit, I come up with nothing. All I know by what my Grandfather told me is we were French, Dutch and Scotch. John's parent's supposively were born in New York and nothing more about their lineages.
Has your De Neys' ever found any of their forefathers coming to America in the 16th or 17th centuries ?
My John family seemed to pop up in the Dutch/French locale of Jefferson County NY at the time of Napoleon's brother was governor of New France - hence Northern NY.
