Greetings:

I am current researching James Ronald Stewart, who eventually rose to be Superintendent of Police in Ceylon in the early 1950s. He is 4th generation descended from Captain James Stewart (1794-1843) and Sara Tissera (1803-1807). The family has been in Ceylon from the early 19th century onwards.

I have a great deal of information on the life and times of my chappie, James Ronald Stewart, which I will happily share with any interested party. Here are the basics:

Date of Birth: 26 April 1900
Place of Birth: Colombo, Ceylon, (Sri Lanka)
Father: James Charles Stewart; (28 Jan 1865 - 22 July 1928)
Mother: Evelyn Maud Dickman; (24 May 1871 - ?)
Spouses:
i. Winifred Gertruide Harvey; (11 Dec 1906 - 19 June 1929)
ii. Violet Maud Robertson; (? - ?)
Date of Death: 12 December 1967
Place of Death: Colombo, Ceylon, (Sri Lanka)

James Ronald Stewart served as an officer in the Indian Army during the Great War, seeing service on the North West Frontier and int he Third Afghan War (1919). Afterwards c. 1922, he joined the Ceylon Police as a Sergeant, working his way up through the ranks.

I would dearly like to make contact with any of his descendants, (or any relatives), with the goal of exchanging information. I am, in particular, seeking a photograph of James Ronald Stewart, as well as details of the last years of his life.

Cheers, and thanks,

Glen,
In Our Dominion of the North
