I think this is a wonderful undertaking. I seem to have run into the lost generations who left Ceylon for the Federated Malay States (FMS) in my family history research.
I am trying to connect my grandfather, Arthur Bertram Joseph to his roots in Ceylon, but I am missing the link. He married my grandmother, Florence Helena Ware in Ipoh, Perak, Malaya, in 1915/16. He was a clerk in a tin mining company.
With both grandparents being gone and my grandfather passing away long before my parents were married, there is no one now living who has any information.
I cannot find any information on whether he came over from Ceylon or whether it was his father who made the journe. In tracing my European roots I have been able to find shipping records to trace my ancestors' journeys, but I can't seem to find any showing passengers between Ceylon and the FMS.
Pleas post updates on what you have found for these lost Malayan-Ceylonese Dutch Burghers, so that those of us who are searching for our roots can find our way home to our forefathers.
