Yes, the old building came down in 1984, I think to become an office for Bank of Ceylon, but then nothing happened for years. Architect Ismeth Raheem got the beams from the old building to use as flooring for his house off Edinburgh Cres. There is a building there now, you can see it in the 2010 photos that Darshan took of the National Mutual building, but I don't know who occupies it.
William Morey was Consul 1877-1907; the Consulate was also on Chatham St. for a time, above Skeen & Co., but I don't know exact dates.
