Philip Chesneau DELATRE and his wife Amelia Louisa Scolding
I'm looking for information or hints that might pertain to the ancestry of Philip Chesneau DELATRE (b. 1777 France or England?, d. September 29, 1848) and his wife Amelia Louisa Scolding (= Amy Scolding or Emilia Scolding or Emily Scolding), b. abt 1775, d. 17 Dec 1845 at Stamford, Upper Canada (now = Ste. Catharines, Ontario, Canada). One source suggests they were married 1797, perhaps in England or Ceylon.
Philip was a Lieut.-Col. in the British army. One source suggests he was an "emigré from French Revolution [1789–1799] to England", although he appears to have been baptised 8 Mar 1777 at Walthamstow, Essex, England.
Some of their children (perhaps all) were born while he was in the military service in Ceylon.
Philips parents were James or Jacques Delatre and Mary Anderson. His children included Mary Anne (b. ?, d. ?), Charles Boyle (b. 14 Sep 1805; d. 21 Apr. 1831 at Kandy, Ceylon), James (b. abt 1806; d. 23 Apr. 1812 at Trincomalee, Ceylon), Robert Sparrow (b. 10 Oct. 1808 in Ceylon; d. 5 Jun 1875), Emilia Louisa (b. abt 1811 in Ceylon, d. 14 May 1880 at Montreal, Canada) and Frances (b. abt 1818).
Many thanks for any leads you might be able to supply.
