Arthur Percival Leopold Rowlands was born on
3 October 1885. He was the son of Richard William Rowlands and Charlotte Caroline Don.
He married at St Michael's Church Polwatte Stella Muriel Arndt on 26 December 1911.She
was the daughter of Francis Samuel Arndt by
his second marriage to Agnes Celia Alice
Pereira. Stella died on 11 January 1922.
AP.L. Rowlands was popularly known as A.P.
Rowlands and was an inventor in the motor
engineering industry in Colombo. He is credited with having assembled the first
Ford Zephyr car out of scrap. He founded the
Rowlands Motor Co in 1923 together with F.C. Gibbs. He later was the Managing Director (Technical) of Tuckers Ltd.
I believe(not 100 % sure here) his son was F.G. Rowlands who married a Drieberg from Avisssawella, and their daughter Peggy married Warwick De Kretser living in Australia.
