The following note was found in 'Jan Kompenie as Schoolmaster: Dutch education in Ceylon 1690-1795' by Jurrien van Goor (1978):


In 1776, Abraham Antonis Engelbregt was a pupil in the Colombo seminary; he was the proponent at Galle,& in 1782 minister for the Portuguese speaking community at Batavia. This person may be a descendant of the Engelbregt from 1670?
