Edward Forrest and the Diagam Estate c. 1870 to 1890
My Great Grandfather is proving to be an elusive man!
He was married in London in 1875 and, on the marriage certificate, he described himself as a Coffee Planter although I don't know if that described what he already was or what he intended to become.
His three children were born in 1877, 1878 and 1881 (+/- 1 year) at the Diagama Estate.
Family legend has it that his fortunes were wiped out by the coffee rust which suggests that he didn't discover the viability of tea until too late.
Can anyone suggest where I might find more information about the workings of the Diagama Estate during this period?
Piers.
