Ceylon 1800 - 1850

Looking for information of Birth, Marriage and Death covering the years 1800- 1850.

I understand that the British gained control of the trading about 1812. Did the British establish any government agency that recorded the vital stats of the persons living in Ceylon at that time?

The family "Dunnick" is my main intrest. On the 1910 U.S.Census Cornelius Dunnick, 65, widowed, born "Ceylon Is. India"

Cornelius Dunnick was born 23 April 1844, however he and his family arrived in the U.S. Aboard the ship Maria. July 14, 1847.
Port of Baltimore. Steerage Accommodations
Father .................................... AARNOUT (Arnold) Age 34, Farmer/landsman/Peasant
Mother ................................... JOHANNA CLARA Age 36 from Amsterdam.

Cornelius had a brother Issac "IZAAK" born 21 November 1841.

I suspect that the father may have worked for a time in Ceylon and decided that things had about ran out in Ceylon and decided the go to the United States.
