Does anyone know what became of BAPTISTE E.D.C. [Edward Denis Clifford]? ‘Bap’ b.1904 Mauritius. Botanist. I know that in 1969 he was still working for the Rubber Research Institute, Sri Lanka. Formerly of the Rubber Research Institute, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. In World War 2 he was a Gunner in the Federated Malay States Volunteer Force and a POW of the Japanese in Singapore to Thailand. He took a microscope into captivity and did good work in the camp hospitals.
