Emma Spurr John was my grandfather's (George Clayton Spurr) sister. In fact, after Jesse John died, Emma moved from the Shamokin area to Milton PA across the county to where my grandparents lived.
I have been doing research on the Spurr line for many years all the way back to their roots in Leeds, Yorkshire, England. My aunt Geraldine Spurr provided me with a lot of facts and figures to get me started.
Emma's parents were Charles Benjamin and Jane (Roden) Spurr.Charles died in 1897 from lead poisoning - he was a house painter.Jane died in 1941.
Emma's grandparents were Rev. Charles Benjamin Spurr and Harriett (Clayton) Spurr. They came to America circa 1850 and Charles was a preacher for numerous Primitive Methodist Churches in Schuykill County PA.
I am willing to provide any help I can with your inquiry.
