Spurlock family origin

Hello fellow Spurlock family researchers.I am new to this forum and this is my first posting.I have read a lot of postings regarding the origin of the Spurlock family.I am descended from the Jno.(Jonathan)Spurlock line.My father says of course that that Jno. came from Ireland. Many serious Spurlock researchers do not believe this.I do know that the origin of the name is Anglo-saxon.The origin of the family is English.I also know that there were many English settlers in Ireland long before Cromwell came. There are many Anglo names found in Ireland (Hampton,Stringer,Harrington,Parnell,Swift).I have seen records on of Spurlock's from Ireland. They were only as far back as 1851 and I was too cheap to pay for the membership and I don't know how reliable that site is.I am new to genealogical research.I have also been told that the Spurlock family had settled in Waterford Ireland in the 15th century and the name was now found in Limerick.I don't know.Thats all I got.
