Will of William Spurling, Sr.
Wife,Nancy Spurling, all of my estate, as long as she lives or remains single, for the support of herself and family.
At her death or remarriage, daughter, Matilda Spurling, to get 54 2/3 acres of land, including the improvements,
where she now lives. My daughter, Polly Spurling, 54 2/3 acres of land, including improvements, where she now
lives. My daughter, Ann Penn, 54 2/3 acres of land, including the land sold by her husband, Thomas Penn, to James
Newcome, a title to the land I have given my obligation to make said Newcome. The remainder of my land, I leave
to my 6 other children, to be equally divided between them, except the 54 2/3 acres which goes to Nancy Harrison.
I have already given my son Harrison Spurling, a lot of land, which he sold to William Spurling. The lot was given
him in lieu of education, that I failed to give him. I leave Harrison a tract of land conatining 54 2/3 acres.
All of my personal estate, I give to my 9 children, to be equally divided between them, Nancy Harrison’s part goes to
son Reason in trust for the benefit of Nancy.
My children not named above, are also to have an equal portion of my land, 54 2/3 acres.,Viz: Rezin Spurling, John
Spurling, Lewellen Wright and Elizabeth Shively.
My sons, Rezin and John Spurling, Executors.

Will of William Spurling
The farm I live on, along with all stock of every kind, all farming utencils, household and kitchen furniture, my
growing crop of corn and tobacco, the wheat, the oatsto my wife, Matilda Spurling, during her lifetime.
My farm, on Stoner Creek, where John Farmer lives, to Matilda Farmer and her children. If she moves from the
farm, it is to be sold and the proceeds equally divided between my grandchildren, the children of Elizabeth McNear,
Ellen Roots, Jane Puyear and Matilda Farm, my 5 daughters.
At the death of my wife, Matilda Spurling, the remainder of my estate is to be sold and the proceedsequally divided
between my children: William T. Spurling, Emily McNear, Mary Lagston, Rachel Wise, Nancy Newton, Mariah
Bows and Louisa Smith.
My son, William T. Spurling and John Spurling, executors.
