My Spurgins come, I think, from Hampshire, but I was interested to see the various forms of Lorina/Laurinda/etc, as I have an Alice Florinda Spurgin, born May 31 1877, died September 24 1957. She was my grandmother, and married William Ledingham. She was the daughter of Arthur William Spurgin, b /1853 d Feb 4 1909, who married Alice West Parks, b Jul 3 1855 d Oct 3 1932, and the granddaughter of Capt. William Abrey Spurgin, b 1817 d Nov 26 1906. Alice Parks' father was Job Allfrey Parks, b ? d Dec 1895, and her mother was Jane Florinda Irvine, b 1820 or 1821 d Feb 1910, so the similar names are probably just a co-incidence, given the Victorian hankering for flowery names. Please let me know if you see any connection.
