In Reply to: How Godfrey Spruill got to the Colonies by Les Spruiell of 780

Godfrey Spruell’s October 21, 1684 grant (University of Virginia Colonial Collections) describes the boundaries, neighbors, oake trees etc, of “Spruells plantation”, concluding with “Ye sd Land being due by transportation of 7 psons.”. Godfrey + the 6 passengers that you listed aboard the Pelican would be 7 persons transported. Interesting.

In addition to those that you mentioned, William Sproull along with John Marshall, Thomas Marshall, & Michael Marshall were also covenanters banished to America aboard the Henry & Franics, 5 Sept 1685. Francis Sprurrell emigrated aboard the James & Thomas of Plymouth 27 Oct-8 Nov 1679. Robert Innis, son of Robert Innis & Margaret Sproule, clergyman, edu, Kings College Aberdeen, sh 1677 to Virginia.

FYI…

One other Glasgow family was that of John Sprewle & Jonet Robesone who had several children in the 1648+ area…
And then there were the cousins from St. Cuthbert’s Edinburg:
__Johne Spreull/Helene Girdwood
__Robert Spruell/Agnes Glen
And from Dunfermline (Fife)
__Robert Sprewell & Maragarat Lugtoun, married 3 Mar 1646

It was the Earl of Middleton (Edinburg) who fined John Spruell’s father in the 1670’s.
