John,
I appreciate your information on Joseph Sproat. Do you know his birth date and place of birth? My grandfather, George Sprout(Sproat) told me of an Uncle in New Cumberland. He said he went there to bring back a family clock which my older brother now has. It was a Martin Schriener grandfather's clock made in Lancaster County in about 1810-1820 an assumption from its number - #239. The interesting connection is Cumberland County, however. I suspect that the Joseph of Fayette is mostly likely an uncle or great uncle of my grandfather George whose father incidentally was named Joseph born 1818. Regards - Dave Sproat
