Hi Judy,
Found an interesting website for you (with bagpipe music!)for the Sproat's of Scotland: http://www.nqks.com/tmcs/sproats.htm
It lists Robert Sproat in 1620 booking a passage to the colonies as well as the brothers who sailed in 1773 and 1774 passages to New York on the "Adventure".
I also have a record of 6 Sproat's (No Sprouts listed) who fought at the Civil War Battle of Gettysburg if anyone is interested.
