The Hood River Glacier, Hood River, Oregon Jan. 30, 1903

OBIT

William C. Sproat, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. F. G. Church, at Belmont, Hood River Valley, Jan. 25, 1903. Deceased was born in Vermont July 28, 1826. He went to Wisconsin in 1843, and in 1850 crossed the plains to California. After 3 years, he returned to Wisconsin, where he lived for 30 years. He then went to Minnesota where he lived for 20 years and then came to Hood River.

His wife died in Hood River in 1901. Mr. Sproat was a man of integrity, utterly devoid of anything like hypocrisy.

He was a life long Mason and his funeral was taken in charge by the Masonic Lodge of Hood River.

Mr. Sproad was the father of Charles H. and Boyd N. Sproat and Mrs. F. G. Church of Hood River Valley and Mrs. John Gleason of Crookston, Minnesoat.

Burial made in Idlewilde Cemetery, Monday.

(I am not related to this Sproat family, posting for research purposes. Note: Belmont is not a township, just an area on the outskirts of Hood River. Would be able to get further information for anyone insterested.
