Hi Brad.
This is a bit of a longshot but I'll try. My gggrandfather was Matthew Sproul,Jr., born in Paisley, Renfrewshire, Scotland on Apr. 5, 1846. His father was also Matthew, born presumably in Renfrewshire about 1808.
Matthew, Jr. returned to Renfrewshire on vacation in 1897 to visit family and took a photgraph of his cousin Andrew Sproul's "shop." I believe it was an apothacary since it had a sign that read "BEECHAMS PILLS."
Are there any notations in your files of relatives from Paisley? Or perhaps your Andrew, Sr. having a brother named Matthew or Andrew Jr. having such a shop?
My Srouls immigrated from Paisley around 1853 and settled in the Sparta/Eden area of Randolph Co., IL. I hope we connect. Vern.
